Stimulus Jobs? Keep Dreaming

Call me a tin foil hattist but I smell propaganda and it reeks of stale cigarettes, whiskey, and illegitimate Obama babies.

Stimulus creates, saves more jobs in June: committee (via Reuters):

The number of jobs created or saved by infrastructure projects funded by the U.S. economic stimulus plan more than doubled in June from May, according to a report released Tuesday by a House of Representatives committee.

At the end of June, 49,377 jobs had been "created or sustained" by water, highway and public transportation projects, compared to slightly more than 21,000 jobs at the end of May.

The Pacific Northwestern state of Washington accounted for the most jobs of any state or territory at 3,481, with the bulk of those concentrated in highway repairs.

According to the Transportation Department, Washington has also been obligated some $627.8 million out of the $22.7 billion the states have requested from the federal government under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Oh yeah? That's not what I heard. *coughBULLSHITcough*

Well maybe my math is wrong but I thought the BLS figured the job pool shrank by about 467k in June.

But the magic stim-u-less program managed to save/create 28k jobs.

Now I am using the windows calculator so the answer is suspect, but that means that the job losses were slowed by about 5% of what they could have been IF there was no stim-u-less.

Notice the quality of jobs saved.
Road repairs, as cited, up here in Canuckistan are usually short term paving jobs performed during the 4 non snow months. These are the kind of jobs that generate enough weeks to get you back on the unemployment insurance rolls for a while (or drawing pogey as we uneducated types here call it).

But the government (at any level) calls this a "win" situation and that proves that the government cares and is accomplishing something.

If things have gotten that bad in the USA, I really do feel for you guys. I always hoped things would turn out better than that.

Anon,

First of all: LMFAO. Where do I start? You're hilarious, I hope you're writing one of these bad boys yourself, as it would be a huge waste of talent if you weren't.

that being said... yes, there is definitely some kind of magic hard at work here. Maybe that's part of the Obamacare scam? Mandatory LSD injections and Prozac implants - SMILE, BITCHES, CHINA IS WATCHING!

As for things getting "that bad" down here, they are obviously worse than the media and/or Washington will acknowledge or admit. As you pointed out, paving roads is great and all but how many MBAs can you fit on the same tar-laying machine on the highway?

"Suddenly I don't feel so bad for dropping out of college," says the girl with the sweet white collar office job training accountants.

Things are, in fact, *that* bad. Don't grieve for us. Americans always have a right to leave I guess, if we haven't pissed off everyone around the world, that is.

Oh wait...
