Prop 8 is all about Making More Little Taxpayers

Really. That's basically their entire argument.

SF Gate:

Winding up a historic trial over same-sex marriage in California, the lawyer for Proposition 8's sponsors told a federal judge Wednesday that allowing only men and women to wed promotes responsible sex and child-rearing, and ultimately ensures the future of humanity.

During more than two hours of intense and sometimes skeptical questioning by Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker, attorney Charles Cooper maintained that society is entitled to reserve its approval of marriage for those who can naturally conceive children.

"The marital relationship is fundamental to the existence and survival of the race," Cooper said in closing arguments before a packed San Francisco courtroom. The reason the state regulates marriage, he said, is to steer "procreative sexual relationships" into a stable family environment so that children can be raised by their biological parents.

I'm not sure what planet this guy was raised where straight, married parents automatically mean good parents with the childrens' best interests in mind. In fact, gender may not even matter.

Did you notice that the words "survivial of the race" were used? The white race, of course. The attorney is a racist and so is everyone else who is anti-gay marriage, and I'm sorry to have remind the gentle reader that many people - even Asians and Afro Americans - are unconscious white supremacists.

Wait, I'm confused, how is that racist? Not that I disagree that Asians and blacks can be unconscious white supremacists but I don't understand where you see racism in what this guy said. Stupidity sure. Ignorance yes. But racism? Do tell.

Hm. I can't reply to you comment. That's no good. Anyway, like I said, the attorney said "survival of the race." That's the quote from the article. Not survival of the species. He's not talking about the survival of Mexicans. Side note: People who use the word "race" are greatly misinformed and I'm on a mission to call them out. "Race", like religion, is based on willful ignorance.

Now THAT I can agree with. And it would probably be safe to ASSUME that the Prop 8 movement's lawyer is a raging racist asshole but for the sake of argument, until he makes that clear, I'll stick to thinking he's just a homophobe prick.

My (former) marital relationship was fundamental to the soul strangling and ass sucking unhappiness I felt for the better part of two plus decades. If Earl and Steve want to have a go at it, I say "sure why not" but under my breath to be polite "be careful what you wish for 'cause you might get it. hahahaha"

SYVH - take a valium and stop hyperventilating. survival of the race as in survival of the human race

Having grown up in institutional and foster settings from the age of 6, on the whole, the argument is valid. As with any rule, there are exceptions to the rule but in general, he is right.
